2017

No, don’t worry – I am not about to say “New Year New Me” or “Lose weight and travel the world”.

This is more about what I want to get out of 2017 – through tangible targets. (Spoken like a true sales consultant…)

Having reflected on my NY resolutions from previous years it became evident that I was falling into the clich├ęd trap of setting vague and unachievable goals. It very much consisted of this;

  1. Get fit
  2. Drink less
  3. Save money
  4. Stop snacking.
  5. Read all the books ever written (and a few essays on their symbolism….)

Snooze right?

However this year it is to be different – I will be turning 28 (yikes) and feel like my resolutions should reflect my years and be tailored around what I enjoy and ultimately…be the best version of myself! Therefore there shall be no weight shaming, no food curbing and definitely lots of drinking/going out!

  1. Cook something new once a week.

If you combine my long working hours, gym sessions, relationship, socialising, travelling up North and blogging along with the fact I am easily distraction it results in the same meals being cooked every. damn. DAY! I may as well have a tap that produces spelt spaghetti and Bolognese along with pancakes (note to self….amazing business idea). I am hugely envious of people who can cook and are innovative in the kitchen and do heavily rely on my boyfriend being my personal chef. However, having the target of trying one new meal a week seems achievable. Beans on sourdough toast technically counts, right?

2. Run 10k in under an hour

Running does not come naturally to me, but I absolutely love it. There is nothing better than running off your frustrations with your favourite tracks blasting in your ears and forgetting the world around you. However I can only do that for about half an hour before my lungs give out and I fall over on the treadmill (true story). I did once do a 10k but it was a ‘tough mudder’ rip off and lasted around 3 hours, most of which I was stood in a swamp awaiting my turn to swim through mud. Running 10k in under an hour would be a great achievement for me!

3. Blog 3 times a week

Blogging and writing are real passions of mine and it pains me that I can never find the time to do it. I follow a lot of vloggers/bloggers and have the utmost respect for those that do it with a full-time job. AND those that do it with a full-time job and kids? HOW? How do you do it? Maybe they all set themselves NY targets…or maybe they have Bernards Watch. Either way I am on a mission to write consistent content and get back into the swing of it.

There they are…I could go on but I don’t want to drown my optimism with endless pursuits and like I said…I can get easily distracted. My top 3 resolutions that are now in writing, therefore stone and therefore no excuses.
